3rd International Arts Therapies Student Encounter
The students conference 2008 was the initiative of Carolina Alejos (MA Dance Movement Therapy, Barcelona). Together with Dacil Martin Petrini and the help of 10 other 3rd Edition Dance Therapy Master students she organized in Barcelona the 3rd International Student Conference.For this years encounter 60 participants came to Barcelona from different countries: Tallin/Estonia, Finland, Paris/France, Barcelona and Madrid/Spain, London/UK, from Utrecht, Nimeijen and Herlen in the Netherlands and Ottersberg and Nürtingen/Germany. Most of the students from Barcelona were from Argentina, Peru, Mexico and Portugal. The encounter was supported by IL3-University of Barcelona and Dr. Hilda Wengrower.
This years focus was on two main subjects: The body, which allowed to center on the unique role of body in different Art Therapies Midia, and the multicultural aspects, to highlight the importance of Arts Therapies in Social Work.
During the 3 days of the Summercamp, discussions, different workshops and lectures were offered by students as well as by professionals.There were two workshop modalities: Theoretical-practical movement based experiences and workshops based on field-work memories, research, thesis and clinical cases. Some were held parallel in small groups others were for the whole group of 60 students. One afternoon was spent in the city of Barcelona with performance, singing and dance where all the different approaches and experiences were collected and joined together.
The last evening was rounded up by a pick-nick on Barcelona beach. In a warm rain interval everybody spontaneously joined into a creative performance where all the art disciplines and nationalities merged into one powerful group. The next day 60 students from different countries parted with the feeling of being part of one powerful network.
